Graphic Design Is Everywhere II

Fuck the biro version! I've surpassed myself this time by actually being hands on and cutting and pasting things instead of getting the felt pens out. I don't care if my teacher doesn't like it, I do.
EDIT: Well my teacher did like it and he wanted me to expand on it so here's my newest idea. I had to photograph it though since it's A3 sized so the lighting isn't great and it's a bit curved at the bottom but I'm really pleased with it.

The Faculty

I really, really, really wanted some better pictures from this film to show how truly amazing it is, for example Jon Stewart with a pen in his eye. But, I'll make do with this one which unfortunately cuts out half of Elijah Wood's face. I can't explain how much I love this film. I saw it when I was 10 and then didn't see it again till I was 13. From then on I've probably watched it 5 times a year. It's hilarious and it's got so many cool fucking people in it. Lastly, I love it when a film has a great end credits song and this one does. Sniff this.

Graphic Design Is Everywhere

This is a very early stage poster idea I have for my Editorial Design lesson but I like it so I thought it could go here. Plus, I haven't contributed anything to my blog since August and it wasn't even my work!
We had to choose a blog (oh, how very 21st century) and create a poster for it which would then fold into an A5 poster booklet with the original blog written inside. The blog I chose was about how people who aren't designers never realise the graphic design all around them everyday. They only see what something is trying to promote and never take the time to look at how it's been designed and the art behind it.
I'll post again when I have a more conclusive idea.

Talking Stove

Possibly, the best 21 seconds of dialogue ever.

She & Him

Out of all the good music I discovered this summer: Liam Finn, The Phoenix Foundation, Vampire Weekend...the one I love the most are She & Him. It's a duo involving Zooey Deschanel and M.Ward and their album Volume One is possibly the best thing ever.

I know it sounds gay but I completely identified with her lyrics this summer and sometimes it's even hard to listen but it's such gorgeous music I can't help. Lisa and Sarah: you'll love them.

Into The Woods

I went to the forest yesterday with Haf and Matthew. We found lots of weird rubbish like a ketchup sachet pinned to a tree and magazines with Sid Vicious on the cover. Haf kept picking up mushrooms too. I wasn't wearing appropriate shoes either. Here is me deep in the forest.

Felt Pens Rock My World

I was on a bit of a creative streak last night and was actually drawing something. My fingers are all covered in felt pen marks now though. Multi-coloured fingers!
Here is a picture of my patronus. He helps me scare the dementors away.

I like flamingos, especially plastic ones. I have a little bit of a fascination with croquet as well and I'd love to have a croquet court in the back garden.

Madonna used to be cool until she got all veiny and old.

Oh! You Pretty Things

I haven't really been that creative this summer, except for Gary's birthday card. I was watching Anchorman last night and I drew this of Lisa, Sarah and I. By the beard of Zeus!

Cooper The Unicorn

The other day, Lisa sent me an amazing card she'd made (along with some badges and a toy car) and I love it. Unicorn stickers 4ever. It reminded me that a few weeks ago I was looking through my Twin Peaks videos on my shelf and in between them was this card that Grace had made for me as a thankyou for lending her the videos. Special Agent Dale Cooper is my hero.

Comedy Gold

I love it when my favourite comedians dress up ridiculously. Mostly, Flight of the Conchords as I rarely see a photoshoot of them in their normal gear. Here is two that I found recently which made me laugh my trousers off.
Firstly, here's one of The Mighty Boosh...how amazing is Julian's face?!
Secondly, this magazine cover is pure gold...how amazing is Bret's face?!

I ♥ Narnia

I was in Woolworths the other day looking at DVDs when amongst them on the shelf I found this postcard. I have no idea where it came from or why it was there but I pocketed it. I have a knack for not paying for things lately, like when I went to the cocktail bar in Caernarfon and walked away with three cocktails without paying. Fucking klepto.

Polly Borland

Today, I was reading 'The Independent Magazine' which had an article about the photographer Polly Borland. She had some really striking work and I found some more examples on her website. My favourite is the 'Bunny' set which is on show in London at the moment but since I live in West Wales, I can't go there anytime soon. Here are some of my favourite shots:

The Virgin Suicides

I saw this film for the first time when I was about 15 years old and I thought it was amazing. I watched it again recently and I'd forgotten what a beautiful film it was and visually stunning too. If you haven't seen it, go rent it. Directed by Sofia Coppola.

Plus, it's a chance to see Josh Hartnett with a bad 70's hairdo.

Arf Arf

I met a German Schanuzer today. He was standing outside the bakery so I went over to say hello.
