VU: 1967

For my FNP brief I am creating a series of concert posters for bands I will never get the chance to see (or in some cases a certain era of their career) and setting them in 2010 so I can attend. I'm doing posters for Manic Street Preachers, David Bowie, Madonna, Ramones and The Velvet Underground. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon working on an idea I had for VU which was based around the lyric 'different colours made of tears' from 'Venus In Furs'. I used Edie Sedgwick's eye and coloured card for the tears. I've got some other ideas too, involving money and I'll post those when I'm done. In the meantime, here's my first idea.

Scaredy cat

Sarah sent me this article about how apparently cats are afraid of beards. I thought this would fit in to my magazine that I did last term (which I need to improve on a lot before the end of the year). So, I drew this freaky looking scared cat.

RAG MAG

Another brief I had this term was to do an article for the our course magazine that will get published at the end of the year. The theme of it is 'then and now' and I decided to do an illustrated history of Penguin book covers. Here are the images I made not in the article format (seriously, I wouldn't want to bore you with that)...

Inspire Me

This is the first brief to be finished this term. We were asked to create a poster for future DMU graphic design students that would be inspiring to them. It had to be about graphic design and personal to you. I find is useful to collect images and things by other people for inspiration so I thought I'd create a sketchbook filled with inspiring things. Even huge things so it's just over the top mental.
